Now that Christmas is over we are gearing up for the New Year and there are tons of ideas available to get us off to a great start.

While we put away all the Christmas decorations we will incorporate a few fun activities for the boys. Check out 10 Kid Friendly New Years Eve Party Ideas

Typically for New Year's Eve we like to have a variety of sample foods, that way we can mingle and dance and let the night go by without having to be a slave to the oven. Check out these 10 Healthy Eats for yummy snack ideas.

My little guys love a little something special to sip on around the holidays, so I plan on making these cute Shirley Temples for them. I know they will enjoy the cherries as much as I do.

I will also be incorporating 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing once the New Year rolls around. It's time to get it together and now that I've donated a ton of stuff we can now get organized! I will be referring to the 31 Days of 15 Organizing Post every single day! By the time February comes around I will have turned over a new leaf!

Hope you all have a fun and festive New Year's Eve! No better way to celebrate the upcoming year then to be with your loved ones. Be safe and watch those waist lines! Guess we have all next year to get back on the program! ;-)

Say hello to my little friend...

I would like to introduce you all to Henry! He's our Elf on the shelf! He's been quite mischievous the past couple of days and will probably be up to no good as Christmas approaches. He's doing his best to ensure the boys are on their best behavior. We will really miss him and look forward to seeing him next year.

Check and see what he's been up to..

Life Lately

Hey there! Hope all is well.

So much has been going on in the past few months! So I have a few photos to share! Hope I don't overload you! Take a peak at what we've been up to the last few months. These photos were mostly taken in October and November. Will post what we've been up to now that we are in December and gearing up for the Holidays! Stay tuned for an update on the new addition to our family! :-)

Andrew and his cousin they are close in age and play very well together.
Aaron had an endoscopy a few weeks ago, will report back on that in a few weeks.
He's getting so big!
My handsome wedding date! :-)
I realized I never posted about Halloween! They had a great time!
Andrew's first field trip to the pumpkin patch! He loved every second of it!

Guys Gift Guide

Guys Gift Guide

Watch / Shawl / Beanie Hat / Sweater / Straight leg jeans / Plaid Shirt/ Cologne / Cup Holder

Next up, Gift Guide for the Guys! I don't know about you all but shopping for guys can be a hassle especially if they already have everything they want and need. I always tend to go with the "safe" items like clothes (you can't have enough cozy sweaters or nice socks).  I think the items above are pretty simple but unique at the same time, not to mention pretty fly :-) I love the idea of getting an outfit as a gift, it takes the fuss out of having to find something to wear for dinner!

Girls Gift Guide

Girls Gift Guide

Perfume / Pink Gift Set / Eye Shadow Palette / Lip Stick / Stemless wine glasses / Candle / Matches

'Tis the season! Now is the time to start shopping (if you haven't already) for gifts for your favorite guys and girls!

I will be posting a few gift ideas over the next few weeks to give you a few gift inspirations if you will! Shopping can be fun but also exhausting if you end up searching forever for the perfect gift! Hopefully these quick guides will give you some ideas if you haven't found anything for loved ones.

First up, Girls!!! The items above are very random and would work well for your best friend, coworker, or relative. These could also work for neighbors, teachers, and other people in your life you would like to give a gift.

1) Viva La Juicy Roller balls ~ Are perfect for the minimalist that loves to smell good! You can toss these in your purse, car or keep one on your nightstand.

2) PINK Keep it Cozy Gift Set ~ This gift set would be a hit for a cozy girl that loves her beauty rest. The gift set packs spa-day essentials in a shimmery bag with body lotion, mist, socks, eye mask and other beauty faves.

3) Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow Palette ~ Who doesn't love a good eye shadow palette especially when its Bobbi Brown, this would be great for a person just starting out with makeup for even for your beauty queen gal pal.

4) MAC Lip Stick ~ Lip Stick may not be a traditional gift but if it happens to be a color or brand that you swear by then it would be the perfect gift for your close friend or someone you know that enjoys makeup/lips sticks just as much as you do! ;-)

5) Stemless Wine glasses ~ These stemless wine glasses would be a great addition to some one's kitchen. It also doesn't hurt that they are somewhat festive with the gold glitter spotted bottoms. Who wouldn't want to sip a little wine out of these?

6) Candles ~ There are so many different candles and scents that you can't go wrong with gifting someone a candle, its a lot easier if you know what types of scents they like but if not you can't go wrong with a festive holiday candle or lavender (its perfect for baths and bedtime)!

7) Matches ~ The holiday season is probably the most common time for someone to gift a candle, which is fine. I love candles, so the more the merrier. I however think that if you plan to gift a candle then also gift some cute matches to go along so that the gift is complete. There are some people, believe it or not that don't carry around lighters.

Birthday Boy

I still cannot believe my little baby boy is 3 years old. He has so much character and a ton of energy! He is our little fireball. Sweet and stubborn at times but always happy and smiling! You can see below he has quiet the personality even at the age of 3! Andrew loves to play! Whether it's make believe, dressing up or building castles with his jumbo legos. He has quiet the imagination. He also loves to sing! I would say that half of the conversations we have are through songs, I attribute that to his one of his favorite shows ~ Daniel the Tiger, they sing at least 5 songs per episode!

I want to wish my little guy a Happy Birthday! I hope this year is far better than the last and that it is filled with lots of love and joy! *His birthday was last month so this post is overdue but it's the thought that counts, right?

  Happy Birthday Andrew!

Hello there! I'm alive! The past few months have been filled with a lot of activities to include a wedding in which my entire family was in along with a week vacation and a few visits to the doctor's office. So we are finally back to getting everything normal...well as normal as it can possibly be.

We are wayyyyy overdue for a link love posts So many things, I'm loving and have read over the past few months not to mention the holiday season is now in full swing so I have some things I want to share with you.

First up, a few articles that are worth reading if you have time:

Also, a few recipes because who doesn't like to eat:

Hope you all are gearing up for thanksgiving! I'm looking forward to spending a day with family and friends, oh and all the yummy food! :-)

Brothers

Having a sibling is wonderful when you're  growing up because you'll always have a friend no matter what. I love watching the boys play and get along together, of course there are days when they are completely sick of each other but that's normal right! :-) I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship evolves in the next couple of years. Things took off when Andrew started talking so I can't even image how things will be when he's much older. Now that Andrew has gotten a little older, Aaron isn't as protective but he will be the first to let you know if Andrew is into trouble.

The love they have for one another is indescribable, there little faces light up when they see each other after a long day of separation from school. Andrew really looks up to Aaron, and boy oh boy is Aaron proud to be his big brother.  At the end of the day they have each other and that's what family is all about.

Love these boys.

His first time!

Andrew just started his first swimming lessons a few weeks ago and is doing so well! Unlike Aaron's first time swimming I decided to throw Andrew in solo. He loves the water and I didn't think he would get much "independence" if we did a child and parent class together. The kid is very independent and in the "I can do it by myself" toddler stage. I will say I was VERY hesitant at first because Andrew is a tiny little thing and compared to his classmates so much shorter.

The first class was a little intimidating for him and you could see the hesitation in his eyes but he clinged to the instructor and became very engaged in the class. He did so well he passed to the next level of preschool swimming. Preschool Level 2 is much more challenging for him because its located in a deeper area of the pool, so I think he's mostly scared however, the kid loves to put his face in the water whenever possible. I'm hoping we continue to progress onto the next levels but at this age I'm also comfortable with repeating certain levels to make sure that he feels comfortable in the water.

Both Aaron and Andrew have been in swimming lessons all summer and I think I will continue the lessons into the fall so they can really capture the technique. I don't want them to forget everything they learned. Aaron loves the water and is advancing pretty quickly. He looks forward to every class and I'm not sure he is really interested in much of anything else at the time. We will see what other activities we can find that keep them busy during the school year.

Here are a few pictures from Andrew's first preschool swimming lesson:

Life Lately!

Well, Hello there!!! Sorry for the extended vacation! We've been enjoying summer to the fullest over in these parts and haven't dedicated a lot of time to the blog. Sorry! Have no worries, I plan to get back on as things slow down...yeah right, who am I kidding! Slow down, when? Oh life, when will I ever find balance to get EVERYTHING done. Enough of that, just know that we are back and will ramp up the upcoming months with a few blog posts, promise!

Here are a few snapshots of what we've been up to the past few weeks.

Just one of the guys

This pretty much sums up how I feel just about everyday when I'm home with the boys. I'm out numbered and have learned to adapted to this way of life. There is never a dull moment when you have boys, they are always running around laughing and playing or worse fighting/wrestling.

I grew up with two brothers so I'm no stranger to being the only girl. In fact, I really didn't start taking an interest in more feminine things until I got older. I didn't like dresses or shopping until I reached high school. Even to this day my style is more laid back and relaxed. I just enjoy having fun and being comfortable and the same goes for the boys.

I don't mind getting a little dirty or sweaty if we are playing outside. I love to watch them play especially those times when they are being nice and sharing with one another...which I must say is not as often as I would like!

Life Lately

Why hello there! It's been a while so I'm going to post a few pictures of how our life has been lately. I signed up the boys for swimming lessons so that adds another element to our weekends. Now that the weather is warming up they want to be outside more than ever and I can't complain! The weather has been gorgeous the last couple of days. Here are few pictures from the last couple of weeks.

That smile gets me every time!  :-)

The Hulk!

Aaron lost his first tooth! Now he is waiting patiently for the next tooth to come out.

I received a flower plant named Aaron :-) for Mother's Day! I thought it was so cute, he even made it purple (my favorite color). I'm very thankful to be Aaron's mother, he's such a loving and thoughtful child. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Workout Wednesday

Just a little pep talk...

I know it's been quite some time now that I posted a Workout Wednesday post.  I can't even say why to be honest, yes I've been busy but aren't we all. Excuses excuses, we all have them.  I definitely find it challenging to fit in my workouts MOST days but that honestly is what's exciting for me.

I enjoy seeing how far I can push myself day after day. It really is a journey and for me personally I've noticed that my workouts have been in cycles the past few months.  I stay strong for a few weeks and then fall off and then get back on...repeating it over and over.  Not sure why this happens maybe I'm burnt out or bored nonetheless it always happens...like clock work.

Well, I decided as of today I need to push out my journey indefinitely...this is not a day, week, or month challenge. It's my life! Yes I will have setbacks but it's about getting back up. It's about not giving up and being consistent.

I want to change my perspective and outlook and focus on what can be done done now to get me to where I want to be. We are so quick to think a head and say we want x, y, and z but what can we do right now to achieve our goals??!!! Work...we can work hard right now.  Little by little, day by day those small changes will add up and eventually you'll surpass those goals you initially set. I want to be stronger than I was yesterday. What do you want? Better yet, what can you do to get there? Let's make it happen!

Things have got to...

GO!!!

Now that the boys are getting older and we are revamping their room it's time to get rid of stuff! Spring cleaning at it's finest! I'm working on a big haul the next couple of weeks.

So far we have cleaned out the toy box and donated a bunch of toys the boys no longer play with. I like for them to be involved in what we give away so I tell them to put aside all the things that other boys and girls can play with. Aaron is always so eager to give things away and even kind enough to keep his favorite toys for his little brother. Andrew on the other hand wants to keep EVERYTHING even if he has yet to play with it! Too many toys! In the future, we are definitely scaling back on small toys...way too many things and why are they even necessary if you can only really play with one or two things at a time. Feel me?

The next couple of weeks we will be cleaning everything from head to toe to just get rid of the old so to speak. I'm still working on upgrading the boys room so now is the best time to rid of clutter. Also, with the weather finally changing up we are transitioning from winter clothes to summer clothes! Goodbye long sleeve shirts and corduroy pants! Hello short sleeves and shorts.

Is there a certain time of year that you donate clothes and toys or do you typically put things aside from time to time? It seems like when seasons changes that is the best time to really evaluate what you have and what you need! Here's to getting rid of the old and bringing in the new! :-)

Link Love

I know it's been a while since I posted on the blog! So many things have been going on that blogging got pushed to the back burner, go figure. Hope to get back up to speed now that things have slowed down.

This week's link love is more for gift ideas for Mother's Day, it will be here before we know it so it's best to get a few ideas before we miss out on the good stuff.

  • Tea is where it's at these days! Tevana has some amazing gift ideas for Mother's Day. Check them out.
  • Next up Makeup! What mom doesn't enjoy a few beauty products! Sephora has a gazillion of gift sets for Mother's Day, a few I would love to have :-)
  • Kate Spade has a lot of unique small jewelry ideas for Mother's Day. Worth checking out if you are a glam mom!
  • Anthropologie has a ton of cute ideas both clothes and trinkets for the home. Love this candle!
  • Flowers, Chocolate assortments, Wine, Books, and Stationary are a few things worth mentioning depending on the person you are buying for. I tend to always steer towards things I know my mom likes and then take it from there that way I'm safe! :-)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! This weekend I have my first 5K for the spring! Looking forward to a great run with some friends. Stay tuned for some picture updates on life lately.

Workout Wednesday

The weather has been crazy here!!! Snow, sleet, rain, wintery mix and more snow so it's been a challenge getting to the gym. It can be very discouraging to workout when the weather isn't great, winter depression is real! However, you can get through it! I love working out at home when the weather is bad, I just pop in my favorite workout DVD and get to work.

That brings me to this week's workout! Due to the weather I have decided to launch a new workout program. If you know me at all you know I LOVE to switch things up not just my workouts, but style, hair, everything! :-) So today I introduce the 21 Day Fix Extreme! I just ordered this workout and I'm ready to kick some butt!

This program is guaranteed to get you shredded in 21 days! It includes both a workout and meal plan! Each week I'm going to review a DVD and share with you my own personal experience with the workout and meal plan. This is probably the fastest way to get bikini ready for the summer! I just love beachbody workout DVDs so hoping this is no exception! Here's to a killer workout and a bikini ready body ;-)

A Special Birthday Wish

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AARON!!! Today my first love turns 6 years old. I cannot believe it. It honestly feels like he was just a little baby. I have really enjoyed my journey with Aaron, I love him in so many different ways.

I remember when I first looked in his eyes...I was completely speechless which is saying a lot if you really know me. It took me a moment to take in everything that had just happened and we just locked eyes and had an instant connection. I had no idea the type of love you could have for someone until I had Aaron. From day 1 he has brought an abundance of joy into my life and so many others.

He is my sweetheart, charmer, silly guy and superhero all in one. It's so hard to write this post knowing all we've been through and what we continue to overcome. He is one of the strongest kids I know, I think over the years his food allergies have been tougher on myself than they have for him. It doesn't phase him at all and what I love about him is that he doesn't question any of it. He believes God made him this way and he wouldn't have it any other way.

I would like to wish one of the loves of my life a wonderful birthday. I hope he smiles from sun up to sun down and has a fantastic day. I've enjoyed all the previous birthdays and they get more and more exciting as they get older. Here's to 6 and many many more birthdays!

It's time for a change

It's time for a change

~Bunk Beds~

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

It's finally the time when we say goodbye to Andrew's toddler bed/crib and Aaron's twin bookshelf bed. I'm so excited for the boys to have a bunk beds, I think they are at the age now and it would really create more open space in their room. Growing up my younger brother and I shared a room for a short time and we had bunk beds. They were great except for that one time when someone fell off but hey, you live and you learn! :-)

I still haven't found a set that I'm totally in love with but the ones above come pretty close to what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a dark cherry color that's pretty sturdy so that we can have it for a few years until we move into a bigger space. I like the idea of the later being attached because then there is little room for it being knocked or pulled down.

I plan to do a total revamp of their room once I select the bunk beds. We will most likely do a clean sweep of their old toys and add a book shelf to their room. The ideas are endless, I plan to checkout Pinterest to see what all I can find! Stay tuned for the outcome!

Workout Wednesday

I know it's been a while but I'm back at it like I never left! Fitness is something that I struggle with, don't get me wrong I love it but just like everything else sometimes it has to sit on the back burner. I try not to go too long without working out maybe 2 weeks max just because it takes twice as long to build up what you lost...in my opinion.

In order to have more time during the evenings to hang out with the boys, cook dinner and just relax I have started to incorporate a few morning workouts. I started back up with one of my favorite DVDs, Turbo Fire! It's so fun even at 5:00am and it has me sweating like I just ran 5 miles. Can't beat that!

On the days where I'm exhausted and don't have a full 30-45 minutes to workout in the morning I opt for the short workout below. It's perfect when you are running low on time but still want to get in a quick sweat session before hitting the shower.

I try to gauge the workout based on how much time I have, you can do a few rounds (3-4) within 10-15 minutes. Try adding weights if you want something a little more challenging! I highly recommend trying to workout in the morning if you have time. It allows you to keep your week nights free and we know how easy it is to cancel a workout if you are tired or too busy at night. Working out in the morning cancels all that out, you no longer have to cram everything in.
